Hampton Manor's 'The Bull'

At the end of June 2018, I was asked by Hampton Manor to create a piece of embroidered art for them measuring 30cm X 30cm.

The brief was to create a piece that represents the Manor's connection to the city, inspired by the exclusive bull t shirts I made for the Independent Birmingham Festival. Using this as a baseline, I embroidered a large bull onto some rough hessian, using my skills in floral embroidery to create the symbolic effect of beautiful things growing out of Birmingham.

Embroidering onto hessian was a bit of a challenge, but I knew it was possible, having seen some of the embroidered hessian dresses by Alexander McQueen! It was a great challenge that I had to work on very quickly as it was commissioned just before I went n holiday, and so a learning curve both in embroidery, and working to tight deadlines.
